An old power station transformed into a five-star luxury hotel on Knysna’s Thesen Island is a salute to industrial architecture as all the old machinery has been incorporated into the design.
Surrounded by water on three sides, the hotel is filled with light and space throughout its 23 suites and its honeymoon suite. Also on offer is the self-catering Water Club apartment and the Amani Spa, while the Water Club itself offers a range of activities from sea cruises & fishing to paragliding.
Contemporary and centrally located, The Turbine is an ideal spot for visitors looking to stay in the vibrant heart of Knysna. There are excellent restaurants on-site and nearby, with the spacious pool area being a favourite place to relax and enjoy a summer’s afternoon.
Three restaurants make up the dining options at The Turbine. The Water Club Deli & Oyster Bar has a lovely range of dishes and is best know for serving the famous Knysna Oysters. The Tapas Bar and Deck is ideal for lighter bites with a glass of wine in hand, with The Island Café being the main dining option.
17 Suites, 6 Luxury Suites and 1 Honeymoon Suite make up this small, intimate property. Rooms all have TV and DVD players, fully stocked mini-bars and tea/coffee stations.
Whilst welcoming to children, much better options exist in Knsyna for families.
