Elegant and luxurious, this Relais & Chateaux hotel sits on top of a cliff overlooking Walker Bay with unrivalled views of the seascape and the Overberg Mountains.
A Hermanus icon with just 42 individually-designed rooms and suites, it offers opulent comfort, great food, fine wines, a spa and one of the best land-based whale watching platforms anywhere. Within walking distance of a number of restaurants, it is also a stone’s throw from one of the greatest densities of the endangered great white shark in the world.
Situated right on the harbour walls, this is the top hotel in the centre of Hermanus.
Book a sea-facing suite to enjoy magnificent whale-watching from your room, or bring your swimmers and use the under-utilised tidal pool which is set on the rocks below the hotel.
The Pavilion Restaurant is situated overlooking Walker Bay and is the flagship restaurant at The Marine. The emphasis is on fresh, local produce, so Walker Bay seafood and lamb from the Overberg feature strongly.
Seafood at The Marine was inspired by the owner’s visit to the Harrods seafood counter and it’s signature dish of Rich Man’s Fish and Chips is well worth trying! The emphasis is on contemporary food in casual surroundings, with an open plan kitchen adding to the atmosphere.
The rooms and suites are all sumptuously furnished with all of the amenities one could wish for. Double and Luxury Double rooms are the entry level, whilst guests can guarantee a sea view in a Luxury Double Sea View. Suites and the wonderful Premier Suites complete the room types at the hotel.
Children are welcomed with open arms at The Marine. Welcome notes and activity packs await in the rooms and there is a specially designed programme of activities to keep them entertained and teach them about the local area. Tailored child menus are available in the restaurants and kids can even get involved and help the chefs cook their meals.
