The lodge takes it's name from the famous Battle of Spionkop and everything about the lodge evokes the feeling of the era. Built in a traditional colonial style, the main lodges and rooms are comfortable, uniquely furnished and set in the spacious grounds. A stay at Spionkop is all about the experience and variety of what you get to do here. Trips to the Battlefield are naturally a huge part of the experience, with the evocative tales expertly narrated by the guides. They have recently introduced star gazing evenings, which are especially good in the cool, clear winter months. If you are feeling adventurous, biking trails and walks are available, as are boat trips and game drives into the Nature Reserve. What makes a stay at Spionkop so pleasant is the variety of activities so you can spend a few days here and always have something new to do.
Spionkop Lodge combines a traditional, colonial feeling with modern comforts to provide a superb guest experience. The guiding here is fantastic and what strikes guest is the variety of activities they can do. In addition to the Battlefield Tours, they can enjoy star gazing evenings, game drives, walks and boat cruises. If you are looking to pack lots into a short stay then Spionkop is a perfect destination.
In keeping with the friendly, informal feel of the lodge, meals are a communal affair taken in the family style dining room. Fresh, seasonal menu options abound and you will never go hungry - the portions are very generous.
The lodge is made up of 8 individually decorated guest rooms and there are also 2 family cottages. All are spacious, comfortable and well furnished, with artwork from the Boer War era. The cottages each have their own kitchen and Braai area so are ideal for families basing themselves here for a longer stay.
Ideal for families, especially in the spacious cottages.
