Inside the North Mara Conservancy area this is both an eco- & community-friendly luxury lodge.
Set up by a group of friends who wanted to conserve the area and help the local community, accommodation is in six elegant cottages with spacious bedrooms and large bathrooms, from which you can see the game whilst showering!
A host of activities are available each day from guided treks to bush dinners, whilst the three-tented Saruni Wild camp offers even greater privacy in a nearby valley setting.
Saruni is an intimate boutique lodge, set in a remote valley with wonderful views over the Mara plains, within the prime game viewing area of the Masai Mara – the Mara North Conservancy. Furnished with colonial antiques, Persian carpets and African art, it can accommodate up to 14 guests in six unique cottages / suites. Each cottage has a large bathroom, appointed with Italian fittings and canvas fronts that can be opened to offer you an amazing “shower with a view”; polished wooden floors, unique décor and large verandas overlooking a nearby watering hole.
The atmosphere of the camp is informal, but elegant. Saruni’s private spa treatment centre, the “Masai Well-Being Space” was designed to provide guests with professional massages and spa treatments in the most serene and relaxing environment.
The elder sister of Saruni Samburu, and one of the Mara’s leading community-friendly lodges, this camp was created in order to help the local Maasai population. Saruni offer very cultural and authentic safaris in isolated locations away from the crowds. Major pluses are the intimacy of this small lodge and the ‘Warriors Academy’ programmes, but the tip for the adventurous is combine this with Saruni Wild, comprised of just three tents just 40 minutes away for a totally different under canvass experience.
Set up by a group of friends who wanted to conserve the area and help the local community, accommodation is in six elegant cottages with spacious bedrooms and large bathrooms, from which you can see the game whilst showering! There is also a private villa (Nyati House) for a very private stay which can accommodate up to 6 people.
Saruni is one of the only small, upmarket lodges in the Mara that is not tented. Each room is beautifully and subtly designed with a theme. You can choose between the Photographer’s Studio, the Observatory, the Love Shack, the Literary Room, the Artist’s Studio and the Natural History Villa.
All rooms can fit one extra bed, to accommodate children under the age of 16 years only.
Children of all ages are accepted and the Family Villa is perfect for everyone to rest up in. There are also family suites where there are adjoining rooms. Child-carers or ayahs can be organized upon request, and the activities for children to get involved in are almost limitless.
