Miavana is an ultra-luxurious lodge located on Nosy Ankao island, which lies off the north-east of Madagascar, just a spectacular 30 minute helicopter flight from the town of Diego Suarez. Designed by the architects behind such African masterpieces as Zambia’s Chinzombo Camp and North Island in the Seychelles, the property fits seamlessly into the pristine environment and brings a type of luxury never previously seen to Madagascar.
Strung out along the island, each of the lodge's 14 vast villas has direct access to the white sandy beaches, turquoise water and coral reefs. The outside colours of the sand, wood and water have been brought inside the villas and appear in hand-dyed curtains, hand crafted chairs and light fittings which resemble glass bouys.
The resort has been specifically designed for those who are looking to unwind and reconnect with nature whilst enjoying a luxury experience on a private island. The wild beaches and bountiful waters are a playground for a terrific range of activities & water sports - from incredible diving, kite surfing & fishing, to helicopter adventures and tracking the turtles which come ashore each year to lay their precious eggs.
The cuisine is world class and the spa is top draw, and included in every stay are all meals, drinks, laundry, guided lemur treks, forest walks, scuba diving, snorkelling, boat cruises, half day fishing trips, kayaking, paddle boarding, kite surfing and bicycling!
This property has taken luxury beach retreats in the Indian Ocean to a whole new level. Very much off-the-beaten-track, the remote and completely unspoilt location is one of Miavana’s major draw cards, and for those with the time and budget, transferring here from the Madagascan mainland by helicopter must rate as one of the world’s greatest arrivals. A genuine, once-in-a-lifetime hotel.
The 14 private one, two and three bedroom villas are vast and feature their own indoor and outdoor living space and deck to the front that steps straight onto the sand.
Snorkelling, Scuba diving, Fly-fishing, Whale and dolphin watching, Turtle conservation excursions, Rainforest treks, Helicopter tours, Kite surfing and deep-sea diving.
Children of all ages are welcome.
