The Craig family have been welcoming guests to Lewa Wilderness for over 40 years and have helped to build the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy into a renowned sanctuary protecting the land and the wildlife so that it is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The game viewing on the reserve is excellent and is one of the best places in East Africa to see the endangered black rhino. Other species you may encounter include cheetah, wild dog, lion, zebra and buffalo. One of the advantages of a stay at Lewa is the opportunity to get off your game vehicle and enjoy a variety of activities including walks, horse riding and the once in a lifetime experience of flying over the bush in a bi plane.
The lodge has the feel of an old style African home with very friendly and welcoming hosts. Accommodation is either in cottages set in the garden or more private cottages tucked into the hillside with valley views. A stay at Lewa Wilderness is an opportunity to enjoy to varied safari experience in the beautiful surroundings of a reserve that is a true conservation success story.
COVID-19 POLICY |
A friendly welcome and great game viewing await at this family run lodge and the bi plane flight is a must!
Delicious breakfast and lunch buffets can be enjoyed while taking in the fabulous views. Dinners are usually served at the long dining table but private dinners can also be arranged. Many of the ingredients used are grown in the family's organic vegetable garden or sourced from local farms.
There are three cottages set in the beautiful garden next to the main house, each with two ensuite bedrooms and a cosy sitting area and fireplace. If you are looking for a little more privacy there are six hillside cottages with views over the valley which you can enjoy from your private outdoor verandah.
An excellent choice for families, Lewa Wilderness accepts children of all ages. The garden cottages each have two bedrooms and there are plenty of activities to enthral and educate.
