History is all around you when you stay at this luxury lodge on the site of some of the most dramatic events in the history of the Zulu kingdom – Isandlwana Lodge, Rorke’s Drift and Blood River.
A mixture of contemporary and modern décor which is built into the iNyoni rock formation, the lodge offers awesome views across the Isandlwana plain and a swimming pool fashioned into the rock. The resident historians and guides bring the surrounding history to life, and lead daily excursions to all the major sights.
A Battlefields property which is set right in the heart of the Battlefields, overlooking Isandlwana. The lodge blends well into the landscape, built as it is into the rocks, and the story-telling of the guides certainly brings the past to life.
There is one restaurant, but when you are wowed by views (they have floor to ceiling windows) you won’t want to eat anywhere else. Especially when the food is this good. On a full board basis you’ll be treated to three meals a day, and will get to watch the landscape change colour as the day goes on.
There are twelve lodges that scatter the area and provide the most spectacular views across the mountainous landscape. Each lodge is decorated in a neutral palate which helps it seamlessly blend in with the surroundings. Luxury bathrooms with fluffy robes are on hand to help you unwind and enjoy the uninterrupted view.
Isandlwana is seen as an adult property but children of seven and up can be catered for with prior notice.
