Hluhluwe River Lodge is set on the flats on the shores of Lake St Lucia, offering visitors stunning views out across the Lake. The main lodge hosts the bar and dining area, which is the focus for gathering in the evenings, as well as a lovely swimming pool. The rooms are thatched chalets, set back from the main lodge in the shades of the forest, meaning they never get too hot in summer. The range of activities is the real draw here making it a great stopping point for families. Quad biking and mountain biking around the lake are popular, as are walks, birding excursions and boat trips. Guests can also enjoy morning and evening game drives into the Hluhluwe Imfolozi Game Reserve, which is about 20 minutes away. Whilst not a safari destination in it's own right, this is a perfect stop for those looking for a few days of being active and exploring this beautiful part of the coast.
Perfect for visitors looking to enjoy plenty of activities with the chance to go on safari in the famous Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve. The thatched chalet rooms are set in the forest, which means they stay cool in summer and you may even get to see the odd Duiker wondering through. A comfortable base to enjoy the great range of activities in the area.
Meals here are generally taken communally in the main dining room, although private dining can also be arranged. The food is very good and, as befitting it's coastal location, seafood is often on the menu.
There are 12 thatched Chalets here, made up of 8 Standard, 2 Family and 2 Honeymoon Chalets. They are all wood and thatched rooms, set back in the forest away from the main lodge so stay nice and cool in summer. They are all nice and spacious, with the Honeymoon Chalets having claw footed baths in the rooms with lovely views out into the forest and the Family Chalets having separate sleeping areas for children.
Perfect for families - spacious family rooms and a great range of activities to keep visitors of all ages happy.
