The ultimate in bush seclusion, the lodge is at the top end of an open valley but is hidden in the bush for extra seclusion and privacy.
Each of the eight large luxury tents has their own large decking area with a private plunge pool, and an outdoor double shower. The interiors are decorated with muted shades and have every comfort including an oval bath and fireplace. Massages are also available after a hard days game viewing.
The flagship property on the Amakhala Game Reserve, the only parts of this luxury tented lodge which bear any resemblance to a tent are the canvas walls – otherwise wooden floors, en-suite bathrooms and private plunge pools abound. Try the chef/owner Tracy’s speciality Indian curries – they are wonderful.
Dining will revolve around the main dining room in the lodge, however, if the weather is fine, guests will be able to experience at least one outdoor “Boma” dinner during their stay.
With just 8 rooms, all styled the same, this is a truly intimate safari experience. Rooms are set on wooden decks with canvas sides and thatched roof. They all have their own private decking areas and plunge pools, as well as spacious sitting areas within the rooms themselves.
Owing to the intimate nature of the accommodation, Bush Lodge is not really suited to children – much better options can be found at Amakhala’s other lodges.
