In the heart of the privately owned NamibRand Nature Reserve you will find Wolwedans, a collection of camps and lodges with a commitment to the conservation of this pristine natural environment.
The landscape is breathtaking with red sand dunes, plains and mountains and the mysterious "fairy circles", bare patches of earth that dot the land. The amazing views even continue after dark as the desert night skies here are so clear that the NamibRand has been declared an International Dark Sky Reserve.
On guided scenic drives you may encounter some of the large numbers of oryx and springbok as well as zebra and kudu and also learn about the resilient plant life and geology of the reserve. You can also explore on horseback or take to the air in a balloon or light aircraft for a birds eye view of the dunes, mountains and coastline.
Accommodation is in a range of camps, including the exclusive Private Camp, which are designed to make the most of the stunning views of the desert and mountains.
A stay at Wolwedans among the peace and tranquillity of this beautiful landscape lives long in the memory.
A truly special place in a tranquil and pristine natural setting with incredible views.
The cuisine at Wolwedans is one of the many highlights of any stay. The innovative and sophisticated meals use fresh produce from Wolwedans' own organic garden.
At Wolwedans there is a range of accommodation options from luxury tents to an exclusive camp.
Raised on wooden stilts over the fine red sand, Dunes Lodge has exceptional views of the surrounding desert and mountains. The main lodge has lounges, decks and a swimming pool while the nine chalets enjoy private verandahs and canvas blinds which can be rolled up to make the most of the views.
A short distance away is the Mountain View Suite, a private space with a large lounge, sundeck and a star gazing bed for sleeping outside if you wish.
The intimate Dune Camp provides luxury camping with six spacious, ensuite tents set on wooden platforms. A drink and a chat with your fellow guests around the campfire is a great way to end a day in this desert paradise.
For a secluded, exclusive experience consider Boulders Camp. Remote and sleeping just eight guests in four spacious tents, it has a dramatic setting at the base of a series of huge boulders.
For true exclusivity Private Camp sleeps up to six and with a lounge, living room, outdoor day bed and wooden decks it is the perfect place to relax in utter tranquillity.
Children aged 6 and older are accepted at Wolwedans. If you are travelling with children younger than 6 you can stay at Private Camp, in the Mountain View Suite or take exclusive use of any of the camps.
