Situated in a private concession in the Okavango Delta, &Beyond Sandibe is set under a canopy of palm and fig trees overlooking one of the Delta’s channels and backed by grassed floodplains.
Completely rebuilt in 2014 Sandibe has a striking, unique and modern architectural style with a light environmental footprint. The main lodge structure mimics the scales of the pangolin (scaly anteater) and the contemporary design takes inspiration from the lodge’s natural surroundings. The eight suites are understated but with luxuries such as plunge pools and are in secluded positions overlooking the reed beds so privacy is assured.
&Beyond's renowned guiding will reveal to you the beauty and wildlife of the Okavango Delta from antelope, buffalo and lion to the haunting call of the fish eagle.
We love the architecture, and modelled on a pangolin's body amour it's truly stunning and is like nothing else. The private plunge pools offer spectacular views out across the Delta and make for a wonderful spot to relax in the afternoons. If you are a food lover &Beyond Sandibe is one of the best in the Delta with an interactive kitchen tantalising you with its wonderful array of fresh dishes. Surrounded by dense riverine forest this is the perfect place to spot the elusive leopard.
Dining is a pleasure at Sandibe whether you are enjoying the varied breakfast spread, watching the chefs in the interactive kitchen preparing a mouth watering lunch or having dinner under the stars.
The eight suites are private and secluded with views over the papyrus reeds. The style is simple and low key but luxury and comfort are not forgotten with king size beds, outdoor shower, plunge pool, day beds and a fireplace for the colder evenings.
Day and night game drives as well as short bush walks in the vicinity of the lodge are included. Photographic safaris with a professional photographer and helicopter trips are available at extra cost.
There is a family suite and one tent that can be configured as a triple, allowing parents the options to have their children close by.
The lodge accepts children of all ages but those under the age of six cannot go on game drives. Those aged six to twelve can join the game drives but will be at the manager’s discretion., and children under sixteen can not join on bush walks.
&Beyond have their incredible WILDChild programme which includes various activities to educate and entertain children. When they arrive they’ll receive a back pack containing a logbook, crayons, pencils and a paw print tattoo. There is a personalised welcome note for every child, with those under three receiving an African-themed soft toy too.
