A beautiful and far cooler alternative to the classic Garden Route.
Cape Town thrills with its best-in-the-world beaches, restaurants and scenery, its frisky up-and-coming neighbourhoods and a thriving art scene. Within easy reach is the fishing village of Paternoster, with its pretty whitewashed cottages and colourful wooden boats. Loop round through the Riebeek Valley and down to Robertson, in the heart of the wine route, for a fresh departure from the Franschhoek throngs.

Depart London Heathrow on the direct overnight flight to Cape Town.
Drive down the Cape Peninsula to the fishing village of Kommetjie to stay for three nights at the Last Word Long Beach. Miles of white sand and infinite views of the ocean make this one of the Cape’s most romantic and dramatic locations. each of the six spacious suites in this beachside boutique hotel has a sea view and private patio and guests can simply enjoy the magnificent setting, surf or horse-ride on the beach.
Head north up the coast to Paternoster for three nights at Strandloper Ocean Boutique Hotel. Kick off your shoes and settle in to the slow pace of life here. Explore the neighbouring nature reserve, take off on beach walks or venture along bird watching trails, then refuel with the freshest, most sublime seafood.
Head inland to Riebeek Kasteel for two nights at the grand Royal Hotel. Together with Hermon and Riebeek West, this quirky village forms the picturesque and tranquil Riebeek Valley - part of the up-and-coming Swartland wine-producing area. The hotel is the oldest in the Western Cape and its verandah was named the longest south of the Limpopo.
Continue to the town of Robertson to stay for three nights at the Robertson Small Hotel. Situated on one of the most famous wine routes in the world, Route 62, it is a simple yet contemporary retreat with an exceptional restaurant. Each of the 10 bedrooms is as pretty as the next. There’s a swimming pool and wellness room, plus impeccable service.
Return hire car at Cape Town airport and depart on the direct overnight flight to London.
