Situated on a private concession just outside Hwange National Park, Ivory Lodge overlooks an active waterhole that attracts a lot of animals. The tree house style rooms are raised up on wooden platforms and have a simple, rustic and natural feel with thatched roofs and wooden furniture as well as a verandah on which to sit and watch the passing game.
The main lodge area features a thatched dining area, bar, swimming pool and library and a firepit around which guests can enjoy a drink in the evening and swap safari stories. Guided game drives in search of the Hwange's wildlife including large herds of elephant and buffalo are taken both on their own land and in the National Park.
The traditional feel and down to earth value of the lodge are immediately felt and provide a genuinely comfortable stay. The raised rooms give a great view of the surrounds, as does the view of the waterhole where hours can be spent watching wildlife wander to and fro.
Meals are served in the thatched central dining area overlooking the waterhole.
The lodge has seven thatched tree house style rooms set on raised platforms as well as two tented deluxe suites, all of which overlook the active waterhole. The rooms are natural and rustic in style giving a feeling of being close to nature.
The lodge accepts children of all ages but please note that there are no specific children's activities.
