With its relaxed, African atmosphere, Ant’s Nest lies in a natural amphitheater around a busy waterhole, frequented by a wide variety of game. Lying on a private game reserve in the Waterberg, this original, colonial homestead comprises of a Main Lodge, accommodating 12 guests in six classic en-suite bedrooms, each with its own private verandah superbly positioned to maximise on game viewing opportunities - don’t be surprised to have a rhino grazing 10 meters from your pool lounger.
In addition to the Main Lodge, Ant’s Nest has a range of suites and lodges available, including the Sable Suite and the Weaver Suite, both of which are spacious, deluxe suites which feature king size beds, mini-bars with tea and coffee making facilities and a private verandah for viewing the surrounding valleys and wildlife. The Sable Suite is perfect for families, while the Weaver Suite makes an ideal location for honeymoons.
Complete with a heated swimming pool in the garden, extensive lawns with indigenous plants around the pool and a wonderful thatched chill-out zone with its sofa beds, Ant's Nest caters for all ages and can be booked individually or exclusively.
Holidays at Ant’s Nest are highly flexible. The host, who is a descendant of the area’s first pioneers has lived in the Waterberg for the entirety of her life and will provide a holiday tailored to your preferences. The extensive range of activities on offer are not bound to set times or itineraries, giving you the freedom to do the activities you desire when it suits you.
The activities on offer include mountain biking and morning games, but the speciality is the range of safaris that are available. The horseback safari’s (for which first time riders will be taught how to ride) are particularly popular and are strongly recommended, but there are also guided walks and drives for those who aren’t eager to go horse riding. There is a diverse range of animals often sighted on the safaris including giraffes, zebras and rhinos, creating a truly remarkable experience for anyone who visits.

A fusion of home cooking and fine dining is on offer at Ant's Nest, carefully prepared using the best fresh produce available.
The dining experience here includes an incredible number of dining rooms; lunch out in the bush, dinner around a fire in the boma or next to the pool, breakfast on the deck or under a tree in the garden. Everyone can eat together in a relaxed atmosphere, and should you prefer something more romantic, private dinners can be arranged.
Sable Suite
The spacious Sable Suite is great for families. Located on the first floor of the main house, this suite comprises a master bedroom with a separate bathroom, an en-suite twin/double room, and an additional ¾ bed located just outside this bedroom. The sitting room is large and comfortable, complete with comfortable sofas and a fireplace, and sits alongside the dining area.This all opens up on to a very comfortable private verandah with shady seating area.
Weaver Suite
A deluxe suite with a large double room which houses a king-size four poster bed. There is also a large four poster day bed and room for an extra bed if required. The en-suite bathroom has a bath and separate shower and the private verandah is perfect for relaxing in the heat of the day and is ideal for private dinners.
Rondavel
Set to the side of the main house, the rondavel, with its high thatched roof is also referred to as the Standard Room and consists of a double room, with rustic four poster bed and en-suite bathroom with bath, shower and outside shower. The outside verandah offers a private seating area with a chill-out day bed.
The Davidson
Located downstairs, in the original homestead, are the two Standard Rooms. One has a double room with a four poster bed and en-suite bathroom, with doors opening up onto a private verandah area with outside seating. Next door to this is the other, a twin room (which can be converted to a double), also with en-suite bathroom and doors opening out to the verandah.
These rooms can be booked individually or make an ideal family suite as they are connected by a passage to a cosy sitting room with an open fireplace, perfect for relaxing on those chilly evenings, and an indoor dining and bar area.
Children of all ages are welcome at Ant's Nest and there is a variety of facilities and activities to keep them entertained including: trampolines, sandpits, board games, toys, books, rackets and balls etc.
Ant's Nest also offers baby-sitting facilities and children’s meals can be specially planned.
