Hidden away high in the trees in a secluded corner of the national park, Lake Manyara Tree Lodge is the only permanent luxury lodge in the park and offers a sophisticated blend of natural indulgence and romance.
Nestled in dense forest between the lakeshore and the steep Rift Valley escarpment, the lodge is perfectly positioned to explore the park’s wealth of habitats and abundance of game including elephant & cheetah, as well as blue monkeys and well over 400 species of bird and the world famous tree-climbing lions. Set in the remote southern region of the park, you would be surprised to see another vehicle on your game drive.
Accommodation consists of lofty tree houses with private veranda and large windows that open up to the lush forest, welcoming in the sights and sounds of the African bush. The spacious bedrooms and sitting rooms float in a sea of green, opening up onto a leafy canopy. Even a soak in the tree houses' large, free-standing tubs offer a panoramic view, with open air showers behind simple bamboo screens.
After an exhilarating day of game drives, we recommend stopping for sundowners on the lakeshore below the Great Rift Valley wall. Dinner becomes a show in the open dining Boma with the interactive kitchen allowing guests to see just how their food is made and prepared.
Another “after-hours” treat is the after dark game trail available where visitors are able to see the late night predators in the dark and nocturnal creatures that wouldn’t be seen in the daytime game trails.
A truly magical experience.
From the acclaimed &Beyond stable, this is the only lodge actually located within the Lake Manyara National Park. The tree house accommodation is very special and those staying here should keep their gaze skywards when on safari in an attempt to spot the ever-elusive tree-climbing lions of Manyara. Accessible by road from Arusha for those with a fear of flying.
Overlooking the forest the Boma (outdoor dining area), is lined with traditional dugout canoes. Guest areas are characterised by soaring spaces that house local artworks and tactile fabrics. An interactive kitchen allows guests to observe the preparation of delicious dishes that are enjoyed in the theatrical Boma with spectacular forest views.
Manyara Tree Lodge is the only lodge in Lake Manyara National Park, making it a remote, peaceful experience with plenty of private game viewing. You’ll be rewarded with spectacular Rift Valley views in your own stilted Treehouse suite cradled in the boughs of a mahogany forest. It’s a magnificent experience that really can’t be replicated anywhere else.
Children aged 8 and over are welcome.
Families can join WILDChild, &Beyond’s fun-filled children’s programme: it is designed to grow the knowledge and enthusiasm for nature of younger travellers while amusing themselves with a range of life-changing activities. Presented by professionally trained rangers and lodge staff, it aims to encourage family travel, giving the chance to see the world through different eyes, within a luxury leisurely ambience.
